Cincinnati Original Creative Festival

Patsy Shields began working in the sewing industry in 1983 with a major sewing machine company. Since that time she has done Sew Better Seminars through Chilton Book Co., pants fitting and blazer construction seminars, Sew Exciting Seminars with Sulky of America and is currently working with Floriani Stabilizers and Walter Floriani. Patsy travels presenting seminars, serger workshops for groups and shops as well as workshops in free motion quilting. She is a certified “Cotton Theory” quilting instructor, and also teaches at various embroidery retreats. She is a freelance national educator with Janome America and DALCO Embroidery Designs. She is a current winner of the first ever Certified Master Sewing Educator award which was presented in 2007 to her along with eight other prominent sewing educators across the country. She also has her own video on Ribbon Embroidery by Machine.
ORIGINAL CREATIVE FESTIVAL CLASSES:
Quilt in a Cup
Hands-on Workshop using machines, 2 Hours, Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Patsy Shields
You can make this fun and funky such as the picture or use florals and make it more romantic / elegant. Plan some trims to dress it up or use decorative stitching in contrast colors. This will be a fun, easy but interesting class and you will have a-one-of-a-kind mug to transport your favorite beverage in. The $13 kit fee includes one cup.
You will need:
- One 20oz. acrylic cup with insert capabilities. (cups $6.00 each available from instructor.)
- 12” square of thin batting such as Warm & Natural.
- Several scraps of cotton fabrics; 8-9 pieces at least 12”-14” long x 1” to 3” wide
- Neutral sewing thread, some quilting thread to quilt the piece with and all purpose sewing foot or 1/4” foot. Size12 - 14 topstitch or quilting needle
- Any decorative threads, trims, etc. to embellish patchwork with.
Class fee $20, kit fee $13
A Holiday Happening
Hands-on Workshop using machines, 2 Hours, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Patsy Shields, Dalco Home Sew
You will learn Easy Stitch Applique, how to make a holiday ornament and also how to use the Kaye Wood “View & Do” to create an enhanced creation for the holidays. After sewing you will see a demonstration of how using Kaye Wood’s View & Do can create additional embellishment and add to your creativity. Bring to class: blue and white thread.
Kit fee $7. Kit includes the applique for the ornament, a CD, stabilizer. The kit fee will be paid to the instructor.
Class fee: $20.
