Creating A World of Beauty, Upside Down!
Lecture, 1 hour, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Instructor: Cindy Losekamp
Stitching from the wrong side of your garment and having the beauty come out on top of your fabric seems like a mystery. Cindy has been designing and creating using these easy and fun techniques for twenty five years. Using threads that are far too heavy to put through the eye of the needle in the bobbin case isn't new…but it's been re-invented by Cindy. Upside Down Appliqué sewn using satin stitching, decorative stitching, straight stitching…you’ll also see Upside Down couching, embroidery, cutwork, bobbin drawing and incredible accents for your finest garments. These techniques add a touch of panache other techniques can't come close to. Join Cindy for an hour that will change your creative life! Class fee: $10.

Creating Terrific Toppers
Hands-on Workshop, Limit 20, 3 Hours, 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Pam Damour, The Decorating Diva
Spend a morning (or afternoon) with the Decorating Diva; learn the basics of top treatment construction. Learn how to match fabric at the seams, calculate yardage and add a lining. This class is designed to give you the professional foundation and confidence you need to decorate you windows the way the pros do!

Straw Dyeing (Done with Drinking Straws, not Hay)
Hands-on Workshop, 3 Hours, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Nancy Begin, Rainbow Dyes
A totally wild way to dye fabric. See patterns in the dyed fabric dance! We will use Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes to create fabulous fabrics to use in your quilting and crafting projects. We will learn proper handling of the dyes and chemicals necessary to process the fabrics and how to set up space in your own home to dye fabric safely. No previous experience playing with dyes is required! You will be taking home 9 dyed fat quarters.
Wear to class OLD CLOTHING.
Bring to class: a square plastic bucket (storage container about the size of a fat quarter will do), canvas tote bag (plastic lined would be ideal) to take home fabric. They will be wet!
Kit fee $40 (Kit includes PFD fabric, dyes, soda ash, Synthrapol spray bottle, straws, freezer bags, gloves and a mask.) Additional PFD fabric and dyes will be available for purchase. The kit fee will be paid directly to the instructor during the workshop.

Great Summertime Skirts
Lecture, 1 Hour, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Instructor: Peggy Sagers, Silhouette Patterns
How to pick out, cut, sew and wear great skirts, no matter what kind of shoes you have to wear or what your legs look like or any other excuses you have come up with! Skirts are quick to make, great to wear, more comfortable than anything on the planet and don’t have a crotch! Some great tips will be offered in this lecture and some beautiful designer skirts will be shown for some terrific and simple ideas.

A Holiday Happening
Hands-on Workshop using machines, 2 Hours, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Patsy Shields, Dalco Home Sew
You will learn Easy Stitch Applique, how to make a holiday ornament and also how to use the Kaye Wood “View & Do” to create an enhanced creation for the holidays. After sewing you will see a demonstration of how using Kaye Wood’s View & Do can create additional embellishment and add to your creativity. Bring to class: blue and white thread.
Kit fee $7. Kit includes the applique for the ornament, a CD, stabilizer. The kit fee will be paid to the instructor.

Care & Feeding of Your Sewing Machine
Lecture, 1 Hour, 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
Instructor: Londa Rohlfing, Londa’s Creative Threads
Your sewing will be more trouble-free when you understand how your machine basically works. Know how to trouble-shoot basic threading problems and realize the importance of proper thread and needle selection for every project. You’ll be absolutely AMAZED that you’ve sewn for so long without a thorough understanding of these basic, yet all-important facts.

Drafting Lining Patterns
Lecture, 1 Hour, 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
Instructor: Cynthia Guffey, Cynthia Guffey Ent.
Learn the easiest techniques for drafting lining patterns that enhance the finished look of your garments and feel great on the body. Cynthia will cover all of the elements that eliminate wrinkles and excess fullness. Attention will be focused on adjustments to facings, room for shoulder pads, and much more. Learn the method of creating a professional result at the intersection of the hemline and facing such as in a kickpleat or the lower front of a jacket.

A Tisket a Tasket... Enchanting New Ways With Jackets!

Come and spend a few creative moments with the queen of garment modifications. Elegance and beauty are not words often used to describe sweatshirts and T-Shirts. Not until now. Cindy has a knack with sweatshirt and T-Shirt modification and she’s here to show you how! See a parade of beautiful new garments that have been created to give you lots of ideas for designing your own. She will cover simple fitting, what kind and size to buy, how to make them shorter…even longer with her fun and interesting samples. If you’ve seen her before or if this is your first time…you will be enthralled as she shows a bevy of unique and different ways to modify and change our old standbys and you’ll be itchin to get stitchin! You know a beautifully made outfit when you see it even at a distance. Close inspection often does not show you the exact techniques incorporated in the construction that yield in such professional results. Hand sewn details make the difference. In this class we will practice as many as time allows: hems, zippers, buttons, snaps and more.

Bags, Bags, Bags

Barb has created bags out of books, shoes, paper, plastic, boxes, and even clothesline. Come to class ready to take home many creative inspirations. Bring a favorite bag for show and tell!

Whole Cloth Design for Everyone
Hands-on Workshop, 4 Hours, 12:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Instructor: Irena Bluhm, Irena Bluhm Designs
What does it take to create a winner? Listen to Irena’s own take on this subject, as she is going to share her own experiences in contest quilt creation and preparations for shows. During the first hour students are going to view her entire quilt collection, as it will be on display during this presentation. After viewing of her entire quilt collection on the show floor and back in the classroom Irena will discuss many aspects of an overall quilt design and what mistakes to avoid. Listen to Irena’s own take about what really gets the judges’ attention! No reason to feel intimidated by the competition. There are just a few simple rules to follow in order to create an eye catching showpiece! All you need is to understand what is the most important in the entire process of creating a competition piece and face the challenge head on. In this hands-on experience students will learn quilt design basics, leave with many design ideas and at least one “blue print” design ready to be transferred to your quilt top.

Embellish Your Quilt
Hands-on Workshop, 3 Hours, 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Instructor: Cathy Scovill, Batik Quilts
Bring your own small quilted project or use a hand-painted batik panel as your focus fabric. Learn a variety of 3-dimensional embellishments to enhance your project. Beading, trims, hot-fix crystals, iron on thread, foiling, and more will be used in class. Learn the difference between seed beads and delica beads, the variety of bead finishes and their durability. Also learn how to test beads for colorfastness.
Kit fee $35 (Kit includes materials: hand-painted batik panel, batting, backing. Selection of beads, trims, hot-fix crystals, iron on thread, foil and foil glue. Trunk Show Lecture, 1 Hour, 2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Amy Barickman, founder of Indygo Junction and The Vintage Workshop shares a trunk show of ideas for incorporating vintage textiles, thrift shop finds and cast-offs into unique fashions…from recycling denim, felting sweaters, to pillowcase pullovers and embellishing with hankies. Fun and easy fashions from Indygo Junction designers will inspire you to Sew Vintage!
