Cindy Losekamp has been sewing since she was three years old. Her Grandmother taught her there wasn’t anything she couldn't do and there was no such thing as no. When something needed to be sewn…Grandma could do it. Cindy has adopted that can do attitude…never taking no as the answer and always being able to find a new way to do things. With that in mind, Cindy pioneered creating hand look embroideries using the stitches from the sewing machine and then created the first “crocheted” pillowcase girls with 12 weight cotton thread and the sewing machine, moving into the embroidery world with the same kind of effects. Her creations are always thought to be vintage pieces until the truth is told and then the amazement sets in. No one thinks they are made with a machine. Besides creating the vintage look, she has created many beautiful landscapes with fiber and thread, a line of sweatshirt modifications in books, patterns and CD’s and written over fifty books, patterns and other publications.
Cindy is a fun and enlightening teacher known for her incredible amount of samples and ingenious way of creating. She has been a guest on many of the PBS sewing shows like "America Sews" and "America Quilts Creatively" and she has traveled extensively...nationally as well as internationally...teaching her methods of machine art to students of all ranges. Cindy has loved being on the cutting edge of the creative side of sewing. She has been teaching for over 25 years and her students love her patient and understandable style. Cindy is president of her own company, Sew Artfully Yours, Inc. which she began in 1998. You will enjoy learning from this exciting and empowering sewing personality.

A Tisket A Tasket... Enchanting New Ways With Jackets!

Come and spend a few creative moments with the queen of garment modifications. Elegance and beauty are not words often used to describe sweatshirts and T-Shirts. Not until now. Cindy has a knack with sweatshirt and T-Shirt modification and she’s here to show you how! See a parade of beautiful new garments that have been created to give you lots of ideas for designing your own. She will cover simple fitting, what kind and size to buy, how to make them shorter…even longer with her fun and interesting samples. If you’ve seen her before or if this is your first time…you will be enthralled as she shows a bevy of unique and different ways to modify and change our old standbys and you’ll be itchin to get stitchin! Class fee: $10
Dimensional Landscapes
Lecture, 1 hour, Thursday 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Cindy Losekamp
In this twist of fiber, cloth and thread you will find a new horizon. Learn to take a standard photograph and turn it into a textural work of art. See how to dissect a picture, simplify it and create the patterns for it, layer it up and then create it with many types of needlework. This class covers applique, free motion, working with heavy threads in the bobbin case, various types of stitching, including couching and felting using a felting machine and hand tools as well. These are done with every kind of process including machine embroidery and much free machining so no matter what kind of machine you use, you can do this. Cindy has always created landscapes from fabric and thread…come and see what’s new to inspire your creativity. Class fee: $10.
Silk Screening 101
Workshop, 3 hours, Thursday 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Instructor: Cindy Losekamp
Turn bland or ugly fabrics into dazzling ones when you add silk-screened motifs. Learn how easy it is to silk screen on fabric, adults' and childrens' clothing, bags and even shoes! Practice the technique on cotton, denim and silk fabric swatches you can use in a crazy quilt, pillow top or evening purse. Then use your new skill to design a one-of-a-kind T-shirt you’ll be able to wear out of class! Sizes Medium to 3X available…one T-shirt included in your class kit.

Vintage With a Kick!
Lecture, 1 hour, Friday 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Cindy has always loved vintage linens, doilies and the treasures that are passed from one generation to the next and she has loved recreating them using the exciting machine methods of today. Come and see the new embroideries, designs, garment modifications, machine stitching, and many other methods she has come up with to create the things we will pass down to future generations. You will see how to make your own special memories “by hand” using your machine, special stabilizers and threads to create the new vintage techniques Cindy has developed for you. Come and see her bountiful collection of new and different kitchy ideas to create the new vintage! Class fee: $10.
Denim As a Fiber

From landscapes to garments, you will be amazed at the beauty of denim. Cindy has always loved creating with old denim. The soft, much washed fabrics of passed down jeans have found a new home in these amazing creations. Monochromatic in color, the tones are a soft reminder of a simpler time when things were re-used, re-created and re-loved. You will learn how to treat it and how to utilize it down to the last bit. You will go away from this class with a new sense of wonder and an eagerness to create. Class fee: $10.
Twinkling Tinkerbell Needle Felted Silk Scarf
Workshop, 2 hours, Friday 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

You will be amazed at the beauty of this scarf. Starting with a hand dyed silk scarf, you will add the beautiful fibers called Tinkerbell fluff while needle felting your troubles away. In this mass of curly mohair, silk and Angelina, you will find a sea of color unmatched by anything you've ever seen. Simply and quickly your scarf will be felted into a masterpiece you will want to wear forever. What's that? You're done already and you want to make another one. Not to worry...we have more to choose from...just visit us and meander through the many beautiful colors and styles and you will be needle felting till the sheep come home. Creating A World of Beauty, Upside Down!

Stitching from the wrong side of your garment and having the beauty come out on top of your fabric seems like a mystery. Cindy has been designing and creating using these easy and fun techniques for twenty five years. Using threads that are far too heavy to put through the eye of the needle in the bobbin case isn't new…but it's been re-invented by Cindy. Upside Down Appliqué sewn using satin stitching, decorative stitching, straight stitching…you’ll also see Upside Down couching, embroidery, cutwork, bobbin drawing and incredible accents for your finest garments. These techniques add a touch of panache other techniques can't come close to. Join Cindy for an hour that will change your creative life! Class fee: $10.
